A Conference Held at Mulla Ali Qari Islamic Seminary in Implementation of the Decree of Amir al-Mu’minin (May Allah Protect Him) Regarding the Elimination of Un-Islamic Customs
This decree was issued to prevent unlawful traditions and non-Sharia-based practices, urging the public to abandon customs that go beyond the limits of Islamic law and instead adhere to Islamic and Prophetic principles.
The seminar began with the recitation of several noble verses from the Holy Qur’an by one of the scholars of the seminary, Mawlawi Nasir Ahmad Rufi, which created a spiritual, humble, and deeply Quranic atmosphere.
Following this, Sheikh Ahmad Sikandari, one of the respected teachers of the seminary, delivered a speech in which he explained the religious, social, and reformative importance of the decree by Sheikh al-Hadith Amir al-Mu’minin (May Allah Protect Him). He emphasized that the decree is not merely an administrative document, but rather a religious and societal commitment that reflects the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan's clear stance against corrupt traditions.
He further stated that such decrees from Sheikh al-Hadith Amir al-Mu’minin are clear signs of the genuine implementation of the Islamic system, and it is a responsibility upon all of us to support these reforms.
Based on the content of the decree, Sheikh Sikandari offered a Sharia-based critique of prevalent customs in society that are deemed unlawful, oppressive, and wasteful. He gave examples such as extravagant wedding ceremonies and other customs driven by social pressure, which contradict Islamic teachings.
He stressed that if the public implements this decree, not only will it reduce economic pressures on society, but it will also strengthen the atmosphere of Islamic brotherhood, justice, humility, and solidarity. He called upon scholars, teachers, administrative staff, and the general public to support such reforms and promote the Prophetic Sunnah instead of harmful traditions.
The seminar concluded with a supplication led by the Head of the Specialization Department of the seminary, Mufti Muhammad Yahya al-‘Ibad. In his heartfelt prayer, he asked for health for Amir al-Mu’minin (May Allah Protect Him), preservation of the Islamic system, reform of the society, and academic progress for the participants. He also asked Allah Almighty to protect all Muslims from harmful traditions and to grant them the ability to live in accordance with the light of the Prophetic Sunnah.
The seminar was attended by the president of the seminary along with its administrative officials, teachers, staff, and scholars.
